Fountain Park is a mixed-use, New-Urbanist community north of Los Angeles that is oriented to the mountain vistas and open spaces. The terrain is mountainous, which is evident with the ridgelines that tower over the open plaza below. In response to the nature of the weather in this part of Los Angeles – hot and arid – arcades and colonnades are used as cool respites from the sun. An open oval-shaped park, designed using the New Beaux Arts idiom, is the place for special events such as horse shows and soccer matches.
