The
Channel Islands harbor in Ventura County
north of Los Angeles is going through a
complete renaissance. It is desired by the
political community that the harbor be redeveloped
into more of a sophisticated destination
for seafarers and that it become a vibrant
mixed-use event for Ventura County. Because
it is located in Southern California, it
seems this is a realistic goal. The harbor
is divided into finger inlets that a given
water portals and are treated as large rooms
for the yacht clubs. Retail, residential
housing units, plazas and a hotel are arranged
around these “rooms” to take
advantage of the views and vistas, creating
a very exciting sense of place, that of
Southern California Marina.
