The
actual hill where a “science academy”
of the Los Angeles school district will
be located is designed with the academy
itself as the focus. Although coming from
the Golden Era of Southern California architecture
in style, Academy Hill is inspired by the
bustling student areas of Paris, such as
Montmartre. The esprit de corps of Academy
Hill is expressed with pedestrian-oriented
streets and outdoor spaces for contemplation
and study. There is a hierarchy of the public
spaces, going from the intimate patios and
courtyards to the large open plaza.
