View of the proposed fifty-acre Village
Green shows the more formal English-style
garden in the foreground with the more naturalistic
landscape in the background. The limestone
monument is set so that it aligns with the
extended center-lined view from Old Setauket
Road (25A) from the northwest before it
turns more southward as it passed Setauket
Village Center. The limestone monument also
becomes the landmark for the pond, which
functions as the needed retention pond for
storm water. This pond will add to the whole
atmosphere of the park. In the summer it
is there for picnics, and in the winter
it is there for skating. The park has a
proposed open-air amphitheater with stage
front. The Sloped Meadow is to the southwest
and is used for field events. Roadways pass
through the park partially to be used as
secret back roads for the surrounding neighborhoods
to access Setauket Village Center without
having to get involved with the traffic
along Route 25A that is passing through
Setauket. Setauket
